The Morning Reading: 52 Stories

BookFox reports that Harper Perennial hosts a site that publishes a short story each week online: 52 Stories with Cal Morgan.

Its epigraph by Richard Russo sets the tone:
"The best short fiction is only small in terms of word count. The form's true practitioners place a premium on concision even as they allow their imaginations free rein. That tension between control and freedom is where the short story lives."

This week the story is "Burn Me Up," by Tom Piazza. Recent contributors include Mary Gaitskill, Tony O'Neill and Simon Van Booy.
