Wednesday: Armantrout & Latiolais


Rae Armantrout and Michelle Latiolais read Wednesday February 24 at Casa Romantica in San Clemente. 7 PM, free as always.

Rae Armantrout has published eleven books of poetry, including: Versed, Next Life (selected by the New York Times as one of the most notable books of 2007) and Up to Speed (a finalist for the PEN USA Award in Poetry) Armantrout's poetry has been widely anthologized, appearing in Language Poetries, In The American Tree, Postmodern American Poetry , American Women Poets of the 21st Century and several editions of Best American Poetry. She is also the author of a prose memoir, True. She has taught writing for almost twenty years at the University of California, San Diego.

Michelle Latiolais is a Professor of English at the University of California at Irvine. She is the author of the novel Even Now, which received the Gold Medal for Fiction from the Commonwealth Club of California. Her second novel, A Proper Knowledge, was published this last spring by Bellevue Literary Press. She has published writing in three anthologies, Absolute Disaster, Women On The Edge: Writing From Los Angeles and Woof! Writers on Dogs. Her stories and essays have appeared in Zyzzyva, The Antioch Review, Western Humanities Review and the Santa Monica Review.
