LA Times Festival of Books 2009

The LA Times Festival of Books is still more than a month away (4/25-26) but the list of authors in attendance has now been posted on their website.

It's a collection of the usual beloved suspects (TC Boyle, Ray Bradbury, Gustavo Arellano, Janet Fitch, Mary and Carol Higgins Clark, Steven Erickson, Sandra Tsing Loh, T. Jefferson Parker, Carolyn and Lisa See, D. J. Waldie, etc.) plus the the expected celebrity additions (Brooke Shields, Diahann Carroll, Michael J. Fox, Cloris Leachman, Elizabeth Taylor, Robert Wagner, etc.)and then the literary irregulars wooed into town for the event (Charles Baxter, Frank Bidart, Robert Boswell, Karen Joy Fowler, Mary Gaitskill, Antonya Nelson, Rebecca Solnit, Luis Alberto Urrea, etc).

It's worth a look to get a sense of what that weekend, invariably bright and sunny, holds.

To peruse the list, click here.

Notable absence this year: Gore Vidal.

Notable luminary: children's author/artist: Eric Carle.

The panels and readings schedule will go up in early April. Tickets (free! with a 75 cent service charge) will become available on Sunday April 19th at noon. The website has all the details.

See you there. That weekend, I can be found in the Santa Monica College booth - come by for a visit.
