This just in via Gustavo Arellano in the OC Weekly:
Those of us in Southern California fondly remember Daniel Hernandez, the San Diego native who jolted local journalism in Southern California for a couple of years--first, as a reporter for the Los Angeles Times, then for our sister paper LA Weekly. He left in 2007 to write a book about Mexico City, a book that is finally getting released next Tuesday. Down and Delirious In Mexico City: The Aztec Metropolis In the Twenty-First Century chronicles Hernandez's adventures in our favorite country's capital, and he's gracing us with a visit next Thursday in SanTana--apt, since the city has one of the largest expat chilango communities outside of Mexico.
Hernandez's reading will happen at Calacas, 324 W. Fourth St., Ste. B, Santa Ana, (714) 662-2002. Thurs., Feb.10, 7 p.m. I will introduce Hernandez, mainly because I owe my own books to him, but also because he's my Scribner hermano. He'll read from the book, take questions and sign copies. See you there!
